Breaking in Chromed vs. Chrome Moly bore
Any inherent differences? Things to be aware of?

Clark,
I do not believe you will suffer any problems. Just clean the
bores and lube. If you are talking about a 400 series stainless,
chloride precipitation could become a factor. Thus, lose the chloride
cleaners. Even Ivory Soap is full of chlorides. Really not a big deal.
I am not aware of any arms in the SS category that are made not using
400 series SS. Do not be concerned. Best, Steve0 -
Thanks 101Airborne, I'd heard warnings about ammonia-bearing products being left in bore contact for prolonged periods but nothing about chlorides.
Neither are in my common list of procedures but thanks for the tip.0 -
101airborn,
There are some barrels out there that are made with SS that is not 400 and they are made by Black Star. They call their steel - Super 70 stainless. I donot believe that it is 400, but could be wrong, it has lots less sulfur in it.
