Breaking in Chromed vs. Chrome Moly bore

    Clark,
    I do not believe you will suffer any problems. Just clean the
    bores and lube. If you are talking about a 400 series stainless,
    chloride precipitation could become a factor. Thus, lose the chloride
    cleaners. Even Ivory Soap is full of chlorides. Really not a big deal.
    I am not aware of any arms in the SS category that are made not using
    400 series SS. Do not be concerned. Best, Steve

    Thanks 101Airborne, I'd heard warnings about ammonia-bearing products being left in bore contact for prolonged periods but nothing about chlorides.

    Neither are in my common list of procedures but thanks for the tip.

    There are some barrels out there that are made with SS that is not 400 and they are made by Black Star. They call their steel - Super 70 stainless. I donot believe that it is 400, but could be wrong, it has lots less sulfur in it.
