Have a 20 gauge model 12 that will not lock. Have replaced the barrel chamber ring, ejector to no effect. Extractor looks good and weapon will eject, however not stay locked. Does anybody have any advice on this matter. Greatly appreciated!!

Yes, I'm positive, just double checked.

    What doesn't seem right?

I never knew of a Winchester model 12 to be made in Japan, and the
combination of letters and numbers in the serial number is unlike any
series of numbers i have ever seen on model 12.

After giving this some thought, I think maybe you have a Browning
reproduction of the Model 12. That would explain the serial number.
I thought they were only available in modified choke. Approx 8000
were made in 1988 and inventory depleted in 1990.
Grade 1 about $400. grade 5 higher. Local market may demand higher
    or lower price tag.

Yes, I have never seen it either. Someone had told me awhile back that Winchester put out a special edition 20 gauge and this was it, but I'm not sure how reliable that info is.

I just saw your last reply.

It is stamped Winchester, and I don't see Browning anywhere on it. Is that the way they are?

    Thanks again
