Springfield Armory XD
I did a search and found nothing on here about this new weapon and am interested in buying one. Does anyone here have any experience with one? Heck, has anyone even heard anything about them? I'm looking at one in 9mm for $375 NIB, and can't find a reason yet to turn it down. Except that I don't think it's even possible to get a full capacity magazine for one.

I'm looking for someone who has experience with the Springfield Armory XD handgun. My question is I'm looking to buy for target shooting and home protection. Am I better off with the 9mm or 40 and a 4 inch barrel vs 5inch barrel? Also if you have shot the V10 model with port holes what did you think? Thank you 0 -
They are made in Croatia, ( forgive the spelling if wrong), they important them for awhile under a differnt name, but then springfield satrted importaning them and added $100 to the price. Unless springfield made modifications they would take a berreta 92 clips. There was a big write up on the about a year ago in Guns and ammo. 0 -
They are made in Croatia and imported by springfield.Springfield stands behind the guns with a lifetime warrany.I buoght my first one when they were sold as HS america in .40 auto for about $300.00,now the price has slightly increased and I intend to buy the .357sig chambering.I have done alot of research on these guns and they get a thumbs up.One feature I particularly like is the grip safety, like the 1911.I would recommend these fine firearms to anyone.

I posted a topic about this not that long ago.... I believe I was told that it was a Highstandard that got the Springfield name on it... still a good gun...Also check out the new S&W version of practically the same gun

I have an XD-40. Great little pistol. Sold a Berreta 96 to buy it, best decision I ever made. Good luck in your search.

Outside of some very minor cosmetic adjustments to the slide this is the same gun as the Intrac HS2000. The only real difference is the price. The HS2000 sells for considerably less than the XD, they were offering it for $299.00 (dealer's cost) not long ago, and they had an introductory offer going a few months ago where you could buy them considerably less than than. Blue book on the HS2000 is $299.00. I suspect with SA marketing them as the XD the price will be going up, because it is the very same gun. Either the HS2000 is way underpriced or the Springfield XD is way overpriced.
Unless you are really interested in buying the Springfield name, I'd look at the HS200. A link for the Intrac follows.

From what I have seen Beretta 92 magazines don't work 100%. The magazine catch for the XD and HS2000 is in the front of the magazine body, not the side like the Beretta. To get Beretta magazines to lock-up properly you would need to drill and shape the proper size hole at the right location in the Beretta mags. Then there is a problem with the followers, the Beretta followers won't hold the XD or HS2000 slide open on the last round and they stick out the bottom a bit more than the factory magazines.
There was some talk on one discussion board some time back about the HS2000 and what a great gun it was. Several people were raving about them. They also made some recommendations on the magazine. Their recommendation on the magazine was this.
Eagle International made some 17 round flush fit stainless steel magazines for the S&W Model 59 and Beretta 92. What these guys were doing was buying the Eagle magazines (either S&W type or Beretta type would work) and using them because they (coincidentally) had a hole in just the correct spot on the front of the magazine to align with the HS2000 magazine catch (which the factory Beretta magazines do not). Most often they would work just as they came, but some were recommending filing the hole a bit to make it the same shape as the HS2000 hole. To solve the problem with the follower not holding the slide open, they were just replacing the Eagle follower with the factory HS2000 follower and it would function just like the original HS2000 factory magazine. The only problem then was it stuck out the bottom of the gun a bit more than the factory magazine. There was a fix for that as well. Replace the Eagle base plate with the HS2000 base plate. That gave them a 16 round capacity flush fit magazine for the HS2000 and according to the reviews, it functions perfectly.
What I'm not sure about is how legal this is. I know it's perfectly legal to take a high capacity magazine for one gun, and if it will work in another gun, it's perfectly legal to use it there. And the 17 round Eagle magazines do fit and function in the HS2000 without modification, they just won't hold the slide open on the last shot and stick out the bottom a bit more than a flush fit magazine. So it would be perfectly legal to take an Eagle 17 round magazine and slap it in an HS2000 or Springfield XD and use it (provided high capacity magazines are legal in your area). But I'm not sure if replacing the Eagle follower with a XD or HS2000 follower would still be legal. Nore am I sure that replacing the base plate to make it look better would be legal.
From the things I have read, the rule the ATF uses is this. You can modify the body of a high capacity magazine to make it work in another gun AS LONG AS IT WILL STILL FUNCTION IN THE GUN IT WAS DESIGNED FOR. There are several examples of companies that modify and sell high capacity magazine in this manner. Using that logic, as long as the modifications you did to an Eagle magazine did not prevent it from working in the gun it was made for (the S&W or Beretta)it would be legal to do this.

Check out this URL. www.hs2000talk.com I am picking up my new SA-XD 9mm tomorrow - this sight is packed with great info that really helped me make, what I feel, is a well-informed decision. Also, the contributors there really seem to know what they're talking about. Hope you're still monitoring your post so you can get your hands on this wealth of good information. 0 -
It really wouldn't pay to get a 9mm that didn't have high capacity unless it was a compact model for concealed carry. A full size 9mm without a high cap just doesn't make much sense.

If you have an XD 9mm You can use XD 40 mags to give you 15 rounds of ammo legally with no modification. 0 -
I bought my wife a 40 XD and I'm very impressed with it. We've experienced no problems with it whatsoever.

great gun. when this weapon is time tested, it will give glock a run for their money. i have the xd-9/od green v-10 ported model with the streamlight m3 tactical light. i would not bother with altering beretta mags. if its not done just right, you will be replacing the ejector. 10 rounds of hydroshock bullets should do whatever you need.
as stated above, the beretta mags will protrude lower than the factory mags. i have experienced no malfunctions, the gun eats all types of ammo. the fit and feel is somewhat different than the glocks grip angle. it also has a backstrap safety like a colt 45 auto. the mags are stainless easy drop mags, very smooth. gun comes with a cleaning kit, nice case, and a test target with one expended shell casing. the cost on my gun was 472.00 plus 160.00 for the light. my wife loves the pistol due to the neglegible recoil. it is a tad louder with the 10 ports. check it out!!0
