big S&W model 29

i have a s&w model 29 that i would like to find out when it was made and how many of this kind were made.no serial number on gun unless under grips, frame under swing arm is marked acy 0356....mod29-3 box is marked as follows.model 29 barrel 10 5/8, fin. (b) ts. tt. th. serial no acy0356 product code 101202 spec.ord. 3336 then acy0356 0293020536 x 3336 it was made for steel target shooting at 50 - 200 meters, it has a 4 position adjustable front sight with a wheel that turns to set it. any info is greatly appreciated, thanks, jack

  i was thinking maybe the 0356 was the 356th one made in series.out of how many? so it has its own serial number range for these guns only and not numbered with the other model 29s?...thanks saxon

  ok now i'm a little confused! was my gun made in 1983? or because of three letter prefix made in 92 or later?...i bought it for deer hunting and its exellent for tree stands,and easy to set sights for different ranges.thanks for your info......jack
