Can the hornady light magnum rounds be used in any single/bolt action (I know, no semi-auto's) chambered for the round? or dothey have restrictions like the Buffalo Bore 45 Colt magnums?

I havn't heard that they can't be used in semi-autos. They have worked well in all the bolt guns we have put them in. They are charged a little more, but they are also using a lighter bullet which keeps pressures down somewhat. I would just shoot em and see, I don't think they are dangerous for most any rifle.
A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.0 -
I can tell you this much they sure shoot well in a Remington model 700. If I had to choose factory ammo for a hunt, Hornady would be my choice.

Ahhh, yet another unsolicited Remington 700 testimonial from a satisfied customer.
We have had them group well in both a browning with BOSS in 300 mag, and a Remington Sendero in 7mm mag. In case that helps your decision to try them.
