10/22 hi-cap mag... how does it work?
Hello.
I am still a newbie, so I wanted to ask, how does the high capacity magazine operate? Do I take the factory one out, before using hi-cap mag?
Is there a site that explains the 10/22 operation?
Thanks,
Eugene.

The hi-cap mag goes in the exact same spot the factory mag goes in. You should have got an owners manual with your new rifle. If you bought a used one, Ruger will send you a manual for free. Do a search on Ruger Firearms for the website to get the address and/or phone number. 0 -
Rballi pretty much said it all. Ruger customer service is top notch. I bought a used pre-ban mini-14 a couple of years ago. I hoped that I could buy a manual, called, and they sent me a free one in 3 days. I have bought 4 Rugers since. One note - be prepared to spend some bucks for those mags. Butler Creek is probably the least expensive but probably not my first choice. They won't work at all in my Intratec. They will in the 10-22 though.

Lorus,, the hi-caps work exactly like the non-hicap, they just hold more than 10rds, that the only difference. Ruger only makes a 10rd mag for the 10-22 and it has Ruger on it and fits flush with the bottom of the gun. All the other "High Caps" are made by other companies. I have a couple 10-22's and a bunch of the Butler Creek and Ramline mags, and they work great in my guns.
If you use Butler Creek, you might want to buy one of their loaders also, they work great and save your fingers a bunch or work, not to mention it loads the mag much faster than you can do by hand.

you got everything you need, but one more thing to look. When you buy the hi-caps for the 10/22 try to get the one's with the steel lips, they last longer and feed better.........have fun!!!!!!
New gun??? No, honey, I've had it for years.0 -
hecklerxkoch: I have never seen any Butler Creek high capacity mags with steel lips, not sure they even make them. The steel lip ones I have only hold 10 rounds. The plastic hot lips by Butler Creek hold 25 rounds and load in seconds with their speedloader. And they work great!! Get some.

Bean- Butler creek does make steel lip hi caps as well as the plastic.

Reb8600: Hmmmmm. I've never seen them. I can tell you that my Butler creek Hot Lips speedloader will not work with steel lipped magazines.
Still, I'd sure like to have some high capacity 10/22 steel-lipped magazines. But I have a ton of the regular 25 rounders so I am happy.
