What states require registering firearms when mov?

Or partial registering? i.e NY requires registering them all, while CA requires the registering of "regulated" ones (pistols and "assault" guns.

Most interested in MD, VA, and well... never mind on Wash,DC!

  The NRA publishes some of this info; check their website. You really want to avoid any state that engages in this sort of stuff. I grew up in NJ and spent 14 years in NY--as fond as I am of these places I would never move back based on this kind of thinking.
