The price seems a little high. If it was a NIB with papers maybe about $1200-1300. To make sure it is not a rework the serial number should have a NMR or MR suffix. These were the "Mid-Range" pistols. They shoot only flush wad-cutters. I own one and it shoots great. If you want a shooter the S&W 52 will shoot rings around it.

I own one of these pistols too. Mine, a '62 vintage with the -MR suffix, is in mint condition, not a scratch on it and it came with the original box, papers and test target. I paid $1100 for it about a year ago. I also saw one at a gun show a couple of weeks ago; used, with no accoutrements and the seller wanted $1500 for it. I agree that the price seems a little high, but I've seen late '70's/early '80's Colt Aces going for over $1000 too. For now anyway, Colt's are going to command a premium.
