Rifle storage in New York State
Hello.
I live in New York City. I have alked to a Long ISalnd T&T Gunnery store, that said that they would sell me a rifle with no problem and as long as I store in outside NYC I would not need a permit.
So the question is where do I store it? Are there gun stores on Long Island that offer storage service? Should I maybe use storage facility? Will storage facility complain about a rifle being stored? And if I dont tell them, what happens if the rifle is stolen?
Thanks,
Eugene.

NYC is nuts on gun control but the long gun permit is not bad- forget the pistols. I think its $50. Where do you plan to use it? I think you can buy the gun no matter where you live 0 -

Just traget shooting. Plus I just want to start collecting. If I could find a place where to store the guns outside of NYC - it would be perfect.

Move to Arizona and your problems are history.

Anyone in NYS can own a long gun without a permit except for residents of NYC. You can keep the gun at a friend's house or join a club outside the city. Know anyone with land upstate? Keep it there, you can shoot there too. 0 -
Actually, I found a range that will store a rifle for me, but they only store rimfires. The place is called a Long Island Shooting Center located in the Islip. They charge 10 bucks a month to store something like a 10/22. I will try and call other ranges, because I really want something with more kick, like Mosin Nagnat or a semi like SKS.

Islip is quite a hike from N.Y.C.
I LOVE NEW YORK CITY GUN CONTROL LAWS!
When my dad moved to the city, he did not want to deal with registering his rifles and shotguns-so he gave them to me.

Hmmmm.... One hour drive, or three month wait... What a tough decision.

An hour drive to Islip from NYC!? Good Luck. Even with NO traffic(which is never) you are looking at over an hour. Figure traffic into the equation, and you are looking at a minimum 2 hours, probably more like three hours.

Oh come on... I was there yesterday and it took me an hour. Besides, I am driving from Brooklyn, which is pretty close to LI. Good range, but indoors. I mean if I will keep a gun there, i will need to clean it. Would be a little bit difficult to do that indoors.
