I like the elite series. I beleive the rainguard does keep from fogging some, but the advertised purpose is to keep the view clear when you look through it with water/rain on the lens. Kind of like wax on your windshield, it disperses the drops and allows you to see through them.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

I haven't tried the new Bushnell 4200 series with the new Rainguard coating yet, but I understand they are an excellent scope. I have an older B&L 2.5-10X40 on my Weatherby and have never had a problem with it fogging up or losing its zero. It's been one fine scope. It's very bright and has a very sharp picture. A plus is they have one of the best warranty programs of any scope I owned.
I think you would make a fine choice with the Rainguard series.

I am in the prosess of testing the 3200 and 4200 B&L, I have gave up on Leupold's and Nicons that wont hold their zero. Nicons warenty is NO GOOD. Leupold's warenty is great but I got tired of sending them back for repair and having them come back from the factory saying their was nothing wrong with them, I shoot 300 mags and 338's the normal scope will last about 250 rounds, I have all ready shot more than that with the B&L and so far so good, My next scope is going to be a new Weaver with acu-trac system. I now have one on a 7mm-08 and so far so good, I have a Ruger 45-70 that I am going to put it on I have all ready shook 2 Leupol's apart on. will let you know Later

I have had the same leupold scope on my browning 7mm mag for the past twenty plus years and have never experienced any problems with its zero. But since your not looking for leupold ill drop it. The rain guard however can be purchased and added to any scope after the fact. There is a guy at just about every gun show in my area that has a display booth and will show you how his product works by using your glasses and a steam machine. I purchased some and it really does work. I wouldnt buy a scope soley based on it having this though as the rain guard is only about 5 bucks for a small container that will last you several years.

When Clinton left office they gave him a 21 gun salute. Its a damn shame they all missed....

Raingaurd does not prevent the scope frome fogging up. What it does is makes the water droplets that form fog smaller so you can still see through the scope without to much distortion. It was one of the few great things about Elite scopes. I own three and love them. Titanium tubes make them lite weight but durable, a money back garrenty on them if your not happy with it in the first year Bushnell will give you money back, and 95% light transition on the 4200 series. Thats brighter than any leupold made.
