MARTINI IN A " 380 ROOK"
DO YOU THINK THIS ACTION COULD HANDLE THE PRESSURE OF 220 SWIFT? COULDN'T FIND ANY INFO ON THE 380 ROOK. THX GENTS

The .360 or .380 rook (same cartridge)are in the same class as the .38 long colt. Some are even capable of firing the colt round. Rook guns are low powered small game guns. They were basically used like we in the U.S. used the 25/20 or 32/20 rounds. Before rebarreling one of these guns you should have it appraised, most of them have pretty good collector value. In any case the 220 swift would be a no no in that action. In the rare instances when one gets rebarreled it's usually to a 22 Hornet or 218 Bee.

On the advice of P.O.Ackley, I built a 219 Ackley Improved Zipper which is a 30-30 necked down to 22, with the shoulder blown forward. Except for rim thickness it's identical to the later 225 Winchester. Ballistics were identical to the 22-250.
Because of the thin chamber wall in the area of the threads, it bulged slightly and ruined my Douglas premium barrel. 220 Swift brass is larger in diameter at the base than 30-30 brass.
When I complained to Ackley he agreed the case was too big for the 310 Martini.
I have heard the 222 Remington worked out well and theres no reason the 223 wouldn't also. The breechblock face needs to be bushed and the firing pin reduced in diameter for rifle cartridges.
The Hornet, K-Hornet or Bee would be easier conversions because of the rim.

v35 Called it correctly....I've seen the BSA Martini Barreled in 30-30 Winchester...Firing Pin was bushed and and Recoil Plate installed..Lever was Forged into a Pistol Grip to fit a new stock...The Little gun shot well! I've owned a dozen over the last 40 years and found that the .357 Magnum was the favored round for me...I'm sure that there is a happy medium, and you'll find yours...Best....
