Hello all, hopefully someone out there with more knowledge can help me!

I just bought my second H&K USP Compact LEM.....

I have a question: Both are the same model, but bought about two years apart.... on the most newest one after the serial number are the letters "DE" which I'm assuming means it was made in Germany....Is that correct? There are some other very slight differences, such as another marking where the old one says "Heckler & Koch, made in Germany" the newer one says "HK Sidearms GmbH, made in Germany"

Is one "better" than the other one? Is one more valuable than the other one?

    Thanks!

I like HK but I really don't care for the USP. My first choice in a 9 would be SIG P228/229 if you want something compact.

IMHO the USP is a Glock on steroids. The Glock works mainly because it stays simple whereas the USP has more gingerbread features. I don't think they make it shoot any better, but some people like them.

I believe the LEM model is a double-action only model that are required by most law enforcement agencies. I have had my USP 9mm Compact for about 5 years and I really like it. My model is a V1 (variant 1) which is double/single action. As mballai said, it's not really that compact when compared to some Glock models. My USP 9c has eaten everything that I have fed it from range re-loads to hydra-shoks. As far as reliability is concerned, I have had no failures with it. As far as comparisons, try also a Glock 19 or even the more compact Glock 26.

I dont think you will be sorry if you buy an HK they are of high quality, and used by many L.E. agencys as well as U.S. Special forces. The gun has passed some rigorous testing and done very well. I have the USP40 and I would trust my life with it. But if you want an equally good simple gun its hard to beet a Glock.

    Good Luck.
