How to dull stainless steel

I don't have a problem with stainless steel being seen. they will only take notice if you are moving it around excessively. Look at how many people have shot deer wearing blaze orange clothes. Deer see in black and white and shades of grey, it is the movement that gives you away.

Other than that, I would get some camo gunsock or gunsleeve that you cut the openings in. I beleive Cabela's carries them for a few bucks. that's what I wrap my shotgun in for turkey hunting.

A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.

I have used the tape myself and all it did was make a big mess. I would purchase one of the camo rugs to slide over your weapon. You can find them most any where, there cheap and reusable. And you dont have to worry about scraping off tape.

Ask your gunsmith about bead blasting.

Any good paste wax will provide a temporary dull finish. Apply, let dry and go hunting. Buff off afterwards. You might want to apply the wax a good while before the hunt to eliminate odor.

Keep in mind that while stainless steel is rust resistant it is not completely rust proof. Items like tape and sleeves, if left on the gun after getting it wet can trap moisture which can cause rust on stainless steel.

All good points. I think that the browing stainless steel has be bead blasted. I like to keep all my gear as natural in color as posible.

What is MS molly? What is the brand?

    lead lobber,
Don't laugh, I have an early Remington mountain rifle with a blind magazine in stainless. I too, don't like the stainless finish. Now here it comes, I got a can of high heat BBQue paint (flat black) and painted the barrel & action. It stays on pretty good and really dulls it up.
I haven't tried to remove the paint yet, but I imagine it will come off fairly easy with some kind of paint remover.
I liked the finish so I left it on.
