Savage/Stevens? Visable Loader?
Got the "back half" of a 22 pump, no barrel or mag tube. Receiver marked SVG, no other markings anywhere. Been told this is a Stevens Model 70 visable loaderbut not sure as the receiver is a beautiful case color and the wood is xcellent.Books say production ended in 1932 and this looks way more modern. Any help with the ID appreciated and would like to find parts to finish. Thanx

Thge "Visible loader" was semi-unique in that the breech block and the magazine tube were co-joined,when you shucked the action bar back the breech also came back and ejected the empty round straight up, odd looking action, I have one, and it is iffy as to performance, sometimes it works....... 0 -
Verticle breach block thats scalloped on the rear to match the curve of the receiver, hammer that looks to line up with the mag tube, 2 extractors at 3 & 9 o'clock above a dovetail cartridge guide, Rounded cam that piviots up to push the new round into line with the chamber (new round pushs the fired case out the top of the breachblock), 4 screws on the right side (the barrel retainer screw goes thru) 2 screws on the left, 2 tang screws (1 on top 1 on the bottom), possiably 2 small plug screws in the top tang (for sight mounting?), SN on the lower tang, breach should be locked unless the hammer is past the "safety notch"
At least thats how my VLR is configured
Jody: If the timing is off, which is easy to do when taking it apart for cleaning, getting the timing right will help a lot. It is weird isn't it? I love how the last round has to be picked out of the extractors, it freaks out people that arn't familier with it.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.

Thanx for the rep;ies. Do your s have the SVG on the side of receiver?

SVG in a circle, left side at the front. Above that is a small circle with 6 points that matchs up with the same circle w/ points mark on the barrel
