Varget powder problems?

It has been suggested I use Hodgdon Varget to reload some 22-250.Others are saying it does not drop consistent charges and to BE CAREFUL.What do the experts think?

  several of my benchrest buddies swear by it. And what do they mean by drop consistent charges? Sounds like those boys have defective powder tricklers.

  If you really want accuracy no matter how good your powder measure you need to weigh each round.

  I have used the powder to load my Ruger 22-250 and have had no problems.It sounds more like maybe they got some moist powder which does happen no matter how hard you try to avoid it. Or maybe they are due to replace some of their reloading equipment.

  in my experince extruded powders dont measure very consistent i have rcbs powder measure, i check every throw for weight when using extruded powders "which dont vary a lot to begin with but enough that i like to check each charge. ball powders measure a lot nicer in my experince. and i check about every fifth charge to make sure nothing is out of whack.
  this inconvence sure wouldnt stop me from using varget though i use it a lot for 22-250

  Started using Varget this year for .308's for my Garand. Meter's pretty well in my RCBS, but - as has been noted above - I weigh every "drop" & trickle up to final weight (41.6 grains for me works fine with 168g Spitzers) using a 45-70 case.
  
  Typically each thrown charge will vary anywhere from right on to maybe -.3; most are within -.1 & easy to bring to weight.
  
  My default scale is an RCBS 5-0-5; I check it against a Dillon Electronic, weighing every 10th or 20th on both before loading a case.
