Question from Greenland...

This may be a difficult one. The reasons may be many but I could think of one or two right off the top of my head.

    1) Most mail order (and inividuals) do not ship internationally because we are not familiar with the foreign nation's laws regarding shipment of arms & ammo across their border. Fines & penalties.

    2) If one would be familiar one might not receive early notice as those laws change. Fines & penalties.

    3) Violation of a foreign government's laws regarding importation/shipping of arms & ammo will undoubtedly lead to increased scrutiny of the business or individual from our own US Gov't agencies that regulate our trade in arms/ammo.

Peter--It is unlikely that you will derive too much assistance in your search for most of the items you have listed from ordinary stores or individuals. Export of firearms and ammunition is strictly controlled, and a license must be obtained for such transactions. Also, silencers are a registered and taxed item here; and export of these would prove very difficult, probably requiring purchase directly from a manufacturer by a foreign government with approval of the State Dept. The printed targets should prove easy to obtain, but even the exploding targets may present a difficulty due to regulations concerning the shipping of explosive items. If you currently have a source for these items you should probably continue to use that source.

    Hello you guys =o)

Yes i know of the legal issues that might be involved in transactions like this.

Thank you for your time, I do appreciate it.
In another forum the only answers i got, said "Just search the web, there are a lot who will sell internationally." - never got just one answer with a link or answerfrom someone who just might be willing to find out.

It was no problem when i bought a Mossberg 835 pumpgun from Denmark and there was no trouble when i had my Winchester 1500XTR semi-auto shipped here.
I asked for a permission to import the pumpgun, as well as i asked once more for the semi-auto shotgun - the two officers just laughed, and said - "Just have them shipped here. No problem."

I'm glad to have found this more serious forum and will look forward to coming by every now and then.

Happy hunting/practising to all of you =o)

PS : (Just to your knowledge)
So far, Greenland doesn't have any legislation demanding an import licence or paperwork to own a gun.
If you're over 16 years of age, you can buy all the guns you'd want - for as long as they're not semi-auto or full auto. (semi auto may only contain one shell in the chamber and one in the mag.. Semi-auto rifles may NOT be rifles, only shotguns.)
Other than that.. it's totally free here.

No laws prevent the use of silencers or demand import, export or registration papers. A friend of mine is the first person to sell imported silencers ranging from .22LR to 8mm - 3 policeofficers i know, own and use silencers for their rifles, as well as i did with my Mossberg .270Winchester some time ago.

Pistols/revolvers are only obtainable through paperwork though, and only if the person got to work in a reservation for polarbears. For personal safety. Paperwork usually no trouble though.

Ammunition however, may only be imported through ground shipping.

Exploding targets might be a prob - don't know about their safety when shipped.

I love my silenced .22, the Winchester leveraction 30-30 and 357Mag... and offcourse any 12 gauge. =o)

I guess I am showing my ignorance (lack of knowledge, heh, heh I don't drool) but why do you need a silencer in Greenland? Neighbors complain? Are you a commercial hunter provisioning for the restraunt trade?

Maybe someone can educate me because I need all the help I can get.

remember: experience is the direct result of poor judgement.

    Hello Seb1999

No, I'm not a commercial hunter - just a Marine Engineer, having a go at repairing the stuff that the nurses and docs destroy at the hospital. I'm a 2.Marine Engineer - also called 2nd Technical chief in the Tech.Dep.

A lot of hunters begin to use silencers here - because their way of living is taking the boat out for a day, shooting seals (no not SEAL-teams !! eventhough a few of them could - once saw an old hunter, lay down with his 8mm Danish made rifle, adjust the height on his rear sight, put 3 bullets into the mag and take ONE shot. When we got to the area where he said he aimed, i saw the dead 2-3 year old seal. I've estimated it to be around 750metres, with open sights!! Wow..).

They want silencers, because they often shoot quite some shots after the darn critters and they don't want the ringing in their ears.
I've often tried to shoot for a seal, coming up the water for a breathe. they're gone even before i touch my rifle.

Yes you're right - we don't actually disturb anyone, not even the neighbour =o) hehe.
But a day or hour at the iron scrapyard - shooting a .222, .223, .243, .308 or .30-06 for fun or practise sometimes gives the ringing.
I've told a few to use ear-"plugs" (don't know what they're called in the US), but they don't want to use them - they want to hear what's around them.

We buy silencers manufactured in Denmark, and some from France.
I prefer the french model from Stopson - eventhough my own model from MagLite still does the trick on my .22 =o)

I love my silenced .22, the Winchester leveraction 30-30 and 357Mag... and offcourse any 12 gauge. =o)
