SKS Rear Sight
Just lost my second rear sight spring yesterday while out shooting. Should I used some sort of glue or appoxie on the next one.? What do you experts say? Thanks.

Hey guy's i was off shooting yesterday and my rear sight flew off luckily it missed my head but, it appears as if one of those little teeth on the bottom of the sight that fit into the holes is worn.. so wondering if you guys could reccomend a place where i might be able to pickup a new rear sight.. i've called all over and no one has em or knows where to find em.. so any suggestions would be appericiated. 0 -
Might be a good opertunity to replace your whole rear sight with a william aperature peep sight.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.

Ah, one of the few things that I am an "expert" in is SKS rear sights. This is a problem I (and others) have had specifically with the Romanian model. It was popping off so often I learned to shoot the gun without it. I wasted money on a new assembly and spring, same problem. Not sure about the Williams aperture, but the replacement that I bought didn't still came flying off with the same regularity.
Frustrated, I brought out the epoxy and decided to solve the problem permanently. Don't do this if you have any plans on changing out the sight assembly. Put a small amount of epoxy on the leaf spring, right on the little nipple. Put the spring in to the sight well, nipple side down. The nipple fits into a little indentation in the sight well. The skinny side of the spring (facing the barrel) should stick up a little, as normal. When the nipple side cements down, snap in the sight assembly and you're done. Remember that you are permanently attaching the spring, not the sight. The sight can still be adjusted and removed, but not the spring. Be careful not to put too much epoxy on the spring. Just a small amount will do.
Mine has been absolutely perfect ever since. Good luck!0
