The boss!
Is the boss limited too and only available on browning rifles. reason being, I have a rem. 700 in 7mm mag. and have heard so many good things about the boss that I would like too have one on my rifle if at all possible. If it is not possible, is there anything similar worth while? Thanks

I am not 100 % positive on this. But the BOSS (Ballistic Optimising Shooting System) is an exclusive of the Browning Company which also has available on Winchester Model 70's. There are plenty of muzzlebrakes and porting options out there but none I know of that have the dial in system that the boss uses. Hope this helps and is fairly accurate.

The boss is limited to Browning and Winchester, I have never seen it adapted to any other rifle....MFI is right, you can go with a dozen different muzzlebreak/porting options on your 700, but none of them will have adjustment that controls your berrall vibration the way that the boss does..I can vouch for the boss, I have an A bolt stalker in a .270, it shoots 1/2-3/4 MOA @100yds with factory ammo. Hey, just add a gun to you collection, thats never a bad thing, Right??....Hope this helps!

Thanks for your help.......Can you recomend a good muzzle break for the 700 then?

CAll Brownells or visit their website they can hook you up with what you need. Also your local gunshop or smith should be knowledgeable on this. Good luck....

We bought my wife a model 70 Featherweight with the boss in .280 a couple years ago, with factory ammo it shoots 1 1/4 groups at 200yds. with the factory suggested starting point, the dang thing is just too loud.

I would recommend against a muzzle break, only cause it will make your gun load and ugly.
If you want the ballistic performance of a BOSS, just get a new premium quality barrel. And have it properly recrowned.
I know for a fact that the BOSS does work, however it was designed as a sales gimmic for Browning to use on their PRODUCTION barrels, and it works great on PRODUCTION barrels, but you put one on the end of a high quality premium grade douglas or hart barrel, and I would be willing to bet that it would only widen you groups.
If I'm wrong please correct me, I won't be offended.
