Marlin Model 47
Someone gave me an old Marlin Model 47 22LR. Looks like something from the 30's or 40's. Does anyone know the story behind it or if it has much value? It is a pump action rifle with a "marbled" look to the receiver.

This is what the book read. This model is similiar to the Model20, with a 23" round barrel and an improved magazine tube. The Model 47 has a case-colored receiver and a checkered buttstock. This model was not offered for sale nor was it listed in Marlin's catalog but was offered free of charge to anyone purchasing four shares of Marlin stock for $100. One other fact about this model is that it was the first Marlin to be case-colored with the new cyanide method; this created a tiger-striped pattern that is peculiar to the Model 47 Rifle. If this book is correct, you may have a good gun to hold on to. This may be of good value to a Marlin collector. 0 -

I checked some other books. The run of production was about six year. This dated from around 1925-31, if the information is correct. 0
