Does the fired shell come out easily when you remove it (can you simply use a fingernail or do you need a tool)? Is there indication of the extractor claw pulling through the shell rim?

I have a Mossberg model 835 ulti mag it shoots 2/34 all the way up to 31/2 in magnums. Mine does the same thing. It extracts every time on unfired shells. But when you fire a shell it seems like the extractor doesnt grab the rim of the shell. At first I thought it might be the brand of shells. You can look at a Federal shell and compare it to a remington,or Winchester and the federal has a narrower rim. I thought that was the problem, but nope. I started looking at the extractor and I knowticed the spring on it was very stiff. I stretched it a little bit but have not been out to shoot it. When it did get a shell stuck in it, you can pump the slide a couple of times and it will eject.Which that is a problem when you have other shells in the chamber.Keep us informed.

I have had this problem and took it to the fellow that works on My guns, He looked at it and said the cuts in the barrel for the extractors were too abrupt, He took a square needle file and enlongated the cuts and it works great now.
