Hopkins and Allen Safety Police Revolver
I recently bought a Hopkins and Allen stainless Safety Police revolver.I'm not sure what caliber the gun is. The last owner thought it was a 38 special. The only markings on the cylinder looks like a 329. This revolver is in good condition. Can anyone tell me the value and the caliber this gun might be?
Thanks You

I have had several safety police, both in 32 and 38 calibers.
they were made in 32 SW short, 32 SW long. 38 SW short, SW 38 long
Does yours break open?
Most of these guns fire the 32 or 38 smith and wesson cartridge, which is the short version of both calibers, Dont try to fire a colt 32 or 38 cartridge in it as they wont fit.
Book Value on these are around 100.000 -
Looks like the value of these fine little guns would be higher. I have a friend who owns one chambered in .32s&w long. I have tried to buy that gun for a year or so but he wont part with it. I would like to come across one for a $100.00 bucks, I would buy it in a heart beat. They are neat little guns, and Fiochi makes shells for them very modestly priced.
Good Shooting!!

HEY RUGSTER::
Come to florida, there is a ton of H&R, H&A, Ivers, down here, just go to any big flea Mkt north of Pinellas county, The last on I bought was a safety Police, about 98 percent, for 50.00, and the only difference in a lot of them is just the inscriptions on them. IE Self Ejector, auto ejector, LR0 -
By the way, the gun is NOT stainless - it is nickel plated.

Thanks for the information. I realized after I sent in the message that it wasn't stainless. Larry

Thanks for the information. Yes the revolver breaks open right above the cylinder. You have to squeeze two tips in and it breaks over.

I've got an extra hammer for the 32 if someone's interested. 0
