Remington Model 32
I have recently acquired an old Remington Model 32, serial no. 5XX !!!
The shotgun has seen a few days afield over the years and does show its age, but the action seems tight. I'll have everything checked over by a good smith.
What it has for a buttpad is rather "funky" and I know is not anywhere near original.
Did the Model 32 come with a butt plate or was a butt pad also offered?
If I can't come up with a butt pad "original looking" I'll put on something functional. Any suggestions?
Ron

Coincidentally, there is an article on the Rem. 32 in the newest (June, 2002) American Rifleman. The photos shown are of the Standard Grade and it is equipped with a butt plate. There were other, more expensive, grades; and perhaps a pad was an option, but the article does not address that fact. Original cost of these guns (Standard Grade) was $75 in 1932, had gone up to $126 by 1939, and were shortly thereafter discontinued for the war effort. The article concludes that almost any Mod. 32 is worth $1,000 today. 0
