    You've got a nice old .22. Sounds like a Remington Model 511 which was made from just before or just after WW II until I guess 15 or 20 years ago. They used to be advertised in Boys Life (the Boy Scout magazine which I remember fondly). I've had one since about 1948 and shot it a lot. The bolt opens pretty hard and mine has a pretty heavy trigger pull but they're a sound rifle and you can have a lot of fun with it.

    The first gun I ever bought was a Rem. 511, and I still have it. That was 1965. Bought a bunch of 22's since then, but none has been as accurate as the old 511. Last year I put a B and L scope on the 511, and at 25 yds. it makes one hole groups. If I had to give up all my guns, the 511 would be the last to go!
