What is this......update
What to do, what to do!
The owner of the revolver with the H&R 32spl took it to a gunsmith & had it cleaned.(The claim check # was H&R 32spl) Today, they picked it up & the receipt NOW shows 32 S&W H&R, and so does the barrel, except the barrel also has an L after the S&W, and they've always used the short bullets...bought with the gun, new.(I think the owner had best find their original purchase receipt?!)

So now you know that it is a Harrison & Richardson revolver chambered for the 32 Smith & Wesson Long cartridge
Using the 32 S&W cartridge in it won't hurt anything. (like shooting 44spl in a 44mag)
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
The .32 revolver ammo comes in 3 sizes with 3 designations. The .32 S&W is the shortest, then the .32S&W long, which is the midsize, then the .32 H&R magnum which is the newest of the three. Of course H&R also makes guns, so it can get a bit confusing when it comes to a clerk in a gun shop filling out a ticket.

I also fire .32 ACP ammo in my Smith mod.16 .32 mag. or in a Charter Arms Police Bulldog .32mag. with no problems.
