A Colt Commander Revolver???
Just came across this on Gunbroker.
Is it a miss print or did Colt truly
make a Commander Revolver in 38 special?
At work and don't have "the" books here.
Thanks,
bud
If it weren't for lawyers, I wouldn't need a lawyer.

Hope this helps. Colt Commando Special Double Action Revolver: Caliber: 38 Special. 6-shot cylinder. 2-inch barrel; 6 7/8 inches overall. Weight: 21 1/2 0z. Fixed sights. Low-luster blue finish. Made from 1982 to 1986. The ad may be a misprint. 0 -
The above answer may be correct, as there was a matte-finished alloy-frame D-frame marketed in the 1980s as the Commando. Essentially a Cobra with matte finish.
However, it may also be that the revolver is a WWII Commando, a parkerized I-frame (Python, OP, etc.) made for the government for use by security guards, etc.. Essentially an Official Police with parkerized finish.
If you left a cite or link to the lising, it would be helpful.0 -
If you are looking at auction 3973794, I looked at the books more. Colt made a model from 1942-45, just called the Commando Model. This was chambered in 38 special also and could be had in 2,4 or 6 inch barrel and had a parkerized finish. Approximately 50,000 made between 42-45. I think it's one of these two models. 0 -
Thatis the right auction number.
The serial number would denote a
newer than wwII firearm.
