how much should i plan on spending on a colt 1991 commander?

Around $600 new. Maybe $100 or so less used. At $600 you are in a good range to find maybe a Springfield, Kimber or perhaps a Para Ordnance that might meet your fancy for a Commander sized .45 so you might just want to handle as many contenders as you can when you shop.

The last several gunshows have had the
"Colt" 1991 Commander for $525-$575. Charles
Daley Commander size going for $435.
