Shipping ammo with firearm

Is it allowable to ship ammo (in it's original packaging) with a firearm? I would assume the box would have to be marked ORM-D. I think somewhere I've seen something stating that shipping them together is not allowed.

  Its a Federal law which forbids it, you dont want them knocking on the door.

  You can sell them such as on gunbroker.com, but when shipping items , they MUST GO SEPARATE, FEDERAL AND STATE LAWS, in most places.
