Weaver k 1.5-1 on shotgun

Am I gonna destroy this scope if I mount it on my Mossberg 9200 turkey gun? I've read something about shotgun scopes being built differently than rifle scopes, due to the way they recoil. Is this B.S. or what?

  The problem that you describe concerning recoil has to do with AIRGUNS, which recoil forward. So, a scope intended for a .22 rifle would not be a good choice for an airgun. Rifle and shotgun scopes get stressed in the same direction.
