Sounds like the Colt New Service Revolver, made for civilian sales 1892,1894, 1895,1896 1901 1903. variety of calibers from 38 colt to 476 Eley, ser#; range from 1 to 356000. would have to see the gun to really identify it.

You have the 1892 New Model Army and Navy which has the double bolt stop notches.

v35 may be correct, but there were several models of revolvers made with the double bolt system until 1907, including the first Officers Model target revolver. They are all basically the same revolver, with minor changes.

Classic095, how did you ever get the idea that the New Service used the double bolt system? The New Service was not introduced until 1898, and absolutely did not use the double bolt system. Did you mean the New Model Army or Navy?

I was thinking it was a 1892 New Army+Navy, but with a serial number of 760 and the last pat. date 1895, I believe it is a later variation of the 1892. The Blue Book says they are minor variations but doesn't go into detail as to what they were. Thanks.
