H&R Model 88 Topper

Have an H&R Topper Model 88 in .410 and would like to put on a .22 Hornet barrel on it if I can find one. Have a friend who claims that a new New England Firearms barrel will work. But, have another who claims it can not be done period because the firing pin is in the wrong place for either a NEF barrel or an original Topper barrel. Who is right?

  The New England Firearms Handi rifles are made to be interchangeable, barrels that is. And your Harrington Richardson shot gun will except other H&R shotgun barrels. But you cant interchange shotgun frames/ barrels with rifles, or vice versa. Hope this helps. If I may those Handi Rifles are real shooters.
