Freedom Arms .454
What are your opinions on the Freedom Arms .454 Casull? I'm thinking about getting one

I'm a little opinionated on the subject so I'll try to be conservitive
Hands down the best big bore revolver made. I've shot the Ruger and handled the Taurus. Both are OK but the Freedom Arms is way ahead of them. Off a rest, I shot a 4" group at 80 yards with the 260 gr. FP. I've taken 2 deer through the shoulders with it and the performance is impressive. This is my second one and I have yet to have a problem with one. Recoil is SUBSTANCIAL especially with the 300 gr. bullets but if it doesn't bother you, you'll love the gun.0 -
I have a couple of them; one 6 inch and the other 7.5 inch ported. Great guns, beautifully made. I've heard - but don't know the specifics - that older guns (when Casull ran the company) are better than new guns. I've had folks tell me this, but the supporting data is pretty sparse. My 7.5 inch is an older one, the 6 inch is about 5 years old. I can't see any differences in them, to date I've only shot the 6 inch and am saving the 7.5 inch. It's very accurate with H110 powder and 300 gr. Laser Cast bullets. I would agree they are the best revolver you can buy, the prices certainly support this if you're a believer in you get what you pay for. 0 -
I own an older ..1984 vintage... 10-1/2" silhouette model... shot it in competition..more accurate than the "nut behind the trigger" recoil is substantial with 300 grainers. I also scoped it with a "TSOB" mount and a 2X burris... Killed a buck withit but it's heavy to carry... I sent it back last year and had the Freedom Arms folks whip me up a .45 colt cylinder..Just like a Ruger now...HO HO HO .. Seriously, The workmanship on mine is outstanding, The metal to metal fit is so perfect, you can hardly find the seams by touch with your eyes closed.. They even have an optional replaceable forcing cone, If you shoot a lot of full power loads ,it might wear out eventually.. In case you haven't noticed I LOVE mine.. 0 -
What Sealyon said...nothing finer. 0 -
The .454 casull is a mighty cartridge. And requires a strong framed hand gun to chamber it. Freedom arms makes just that, a very strong handgun I seen a wild bore taken with that very recipe. It truly impressed me. If you dont mind the recoil there a great combination.
Hope This Helps.
