Win, it depend on what twist rate you have. I'm not familiar with the 700 BPR but if the twist is 'slow' - 1:66 - then a patched ball will work best; if it is 'fast' - 1:44 or quicker- then a maxi-ball or some thing like the Lyman "Great Plains" bullet will work best.
Check your manual to see what they recommend as a load and work up and down from there to see what works best. (My Hawken likes 120 gr with a patched ball - as an example)
Good luck, let us know what you find works best.

I think the twist is 1 in 28 on that. Would probably work well with sabot or maxi-ball. 0 -
1-28 twist is for sabots. Have you tried the Pyrodex pellots in it yet? Note on the Pyro pellots the gr equiv is a little confusing 2 50gr pellots will give you more volicity than 100gr of loose Pyrodex or 2f BP
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
The rifle is a 1 and 28 twist and i will check the manual when the gun gets here and thanks for the posts.

I mounted a 6x Leupold on my 700 BP 54. I use 100 grs of Goex FFG, a Rem. #11 primer and a Rem. 44 cal/303 gr JHP Saboted bullet. My best 100 yard group was a three shot cloverleaf, with all holes touching. The gun shoots 4" high at 100 yards, dead on at 150 yards and 12" low at 200 yards. I was lucky to draw an Arizona muzzle loader antelope tag in 2001. Opening morning I shot an antelope at a measured 155 yards.
The 700 BP is a great rifle. Easy to clean, mount a scope and al the features of the 700 centerfire rifles.

The barrel is a 1:28. I have the 50cal. First thing you BETTER do (don't take that the wrong way) is to install the 209 primer conversion kit. Cabellas has it for $39. It works like a charm!!!!!!
Next, I use pyrodex pellets and either Barnes Red Hots (great expansion) or Winchester Supreme partitions. With mine I am getting 3 holes touching or darn near touching at 100yds. The rem 700ML is as accurate as any muzzleloader I have seen. My buddy has the TC encore with the 26" barrel, and he can't get any better groups than I do with a 24" barrel.
A great rifle with a junk scope,....is junk.0 -
Thanks Just C for the info I need to know as much as I can about any rifle I get It is just the way I am .Bill W.
