Did Ruger nickel plate Security sixes?

About 1986 I purchased what appeared to be a new Ruger Security Six. It is a six inch barrel .357 with adjustable real sights, red front sight, target hammer, target trigger, highly polished rounded wooden grips (someone told me thay were called "Mustang" grips), a super silky double action, and it is nickel plated. I have seen Rugers in blue and stainless (I have a GP-101) but never one in nicke. I was wondering if anyone knew if this was an option or did someone most likely have it plated.

  Sounds like a custom job. I'm unaware of any Ruger firearm that was factory plated.

  I think Rugers custom shop, which no longer exist. At one time took on the task of custom making the single six and a very limited number of other Ruger Revolvers. The best way to know for sure is to give the folks at Ruger a call. Also I would ask for a supervisor to answer my question. Either way you have a nice Revolver.

  I had a feeling it was different when I went to shoot it. Its double action is like the single action on most revolvers I have fired. Slick and smooth. If you practice, you can pull the trigger back to one point, pause, and then the slightest pressure and it is firing. I'll give Ruger a call. Thanks!
