Hammerli Trailside
I was looking at .22 pistols when I heard about this one. Does anybody have any experience with these. Accuracy, reliability, etc. I've read a few reviews and the reviewers seem to love them. They look nice and the price is good. Thanks.

Hammerli is a quality brand. Someone who frequents the local gun shop in my area had a couple of these guns that had to go back to the distributor for repair. I don't know if this was just a bad run or what.
The .22 by which all others are compared with is the Ruger. No other gun has been around so long or has proven itself so well, Many spend several times the base gun price to build a superb target pistol. Whichever gun you look at, compare it with the Ruger.

mballai,
You're right about the Ruger, but I already own one of those. I just wanted something different.0 -
My understanding is that Hammerli makes a very accurate gun. Best bet is to handle one and see if it fits your hand and eyes.
If you want something different, you might very well consider sending your Ruger off for some customizing. Having shot a Volquartsen honed Ruger, I can tell you it is something very nice indeed and well worth the bucks and wait.

Hammerli is a Sig arms product. And I have read some really good reviews on it. It was very popular at the Olympics, but I would take my time to make sure it fits your hand, and see if it has a good natural trigger pull. That seems to be one of the reasons its so accurate.

The Hammerli that is shot in competition is either the 208s (discontinued) or the newer SP20. These are both precision instruments and are related to the Trailside in name only. Accuracy/etc. results I've seen on the Trailsides put it in the same ballpark as many of the lower cost 22's. 0
