You'll do much better quality wise going used. Number one bargain - Ithaca model 500 or 600. These can be picked up for $500 or a little more. They're well balenced, engineered and thr pre-1976 are hand engraved. For a little more you can get a non screw choke Winchester 101. I've owned both in 20 and 12 and so have most of my shooting friends. You can't go wrong with either!

Cheap is in the eye of the beholder.
If you ever need your money back Ruger is about as low as I would go new or as someone else said go with a good brand used. Often a good used Winchester, Browning, Remington or Ruger will show you how the action should feel when it gets broken in. Ruger o/u will usually loosen up fast while others vary.
Also if you ever need parts, the above mentioned models have parts avaialble from several places. Other than the factory where can you get parts for the models you mentioned.
    good Luck...

How would you rather die, 10,000 foot pounds of muzzle energy in the BUTT or a sharp knife in the HEART?

gravedigger said 600 - 700. That's why I suggested the Ithaca or Winchester 101. By the way --- Ruger's really are to heavy - especially in the 20 guage. Real upland hunters will notice it after three hours. If your shooting sporting clays the weight is OK.
