are ar-15 bolt carriers interchangeable?

Can I use the same bolt carrier/ charge handle for two different uppers (an hbar and a carbin), or will it decrease accuracy in both uppers because it settles into both?

  Yes. I do the same thing with one bolt and carrier for target setup
  and G.I. type barreled type uppers.

  All military spec weapon systems are interchangeable. Pick and piece as you desire.

  Then why does my Bushmaster owner's manual say to never use the bolt and carrier in any other upper? Is the BM either to sloppy or too tight to headspace correctly in any upper other than the one the bolt was matched too?

  Probably for liability issues is why your BM owners manual states that you should not do it.

  For the same reason garbage disposals say "Do not stick hand in here."
  Bushmaster is a fairly big wimp about legal things.
  Try and order an M16 sear or bolt from them.
