16ga Single Shot Long Tom
I'am about to pass on this older shotgun which came from grandfather,
father, son to a new family caretaker. It has a overall length of 55",
40" single barrel. The "only marking" is Long Tom engraved by the
breach and the #100630 stamped inside the breach housing and the
forearm stock. Can anyone tell any about it and potential value?. I've
had this old gun now over 30ys and often wondered about it's history.

SAME AS J.STEVENS/SAVAGE M-94 PROBABLY MADE BEFORE WW 2 0 -
I think I have seen one of those before, but the barrel wasnt that long. From what little I know it was probably made for Montgomery Ward. But I cant tell you what its worth, I cant find that gun in a 16 ga or with that long of a barrel. Sounds if someone is about to inherit a real keeper though.
Good Luck.

Family history notwithstanding... You asked for value.
Value to the family ... No dollar amount will cover it.
Market value ... $35.00 on up to perhaps $100.00. (The lower number is probably closer than the higher.
Most probably Stevens, but there were others who used that name or one so similar as to be confusing.
No collector interest... Never will be.
Enjoy the old gun for what it is. Priceless to you and the rest of the world doesn't matter.
