orange county sherrifs combat commander
i just bought a colt combat commander and it says orange county sherrifs dept invintational 1971 wonderign if anyone knows anything about it or what it might be worth was it a sevice pistol or

I don't know anything about this particular gun, but it is a "special edition". That is, it is not a Colt cataloged gun, but 1 of a bunch special-ordered by a group or distributor. I think that a good guess would be that this dept gave them away as prizes to winners in a shooting tournament.
Special editions generally sell for the same, or a little more, than the plain version of the same gun. What's it worth? Look at your sales receipt; it's worth what you were willing to pay for it.

The O.C. Sheriff's never carried Combat Commanders, at least not the county in Calif, I'am not sure of Orange County in Florida. That gun was probably given as a prize at that match, and was probably engraved after it left Colt, but it still may be worth a little more than a non-engraved version. It has to be a series 70, and that alone makes it more desirable to a collector.
