mosin nagant
I recently bought a Mosin from a person and attempted to shoot it today only to find out the bullet gets hung up while trying to load it into the chamber. I put a mark on the bullet and found at around the 5 oclock spot a spot that looks like theres maybe a burr inside the barrel catching it. It leaves like a scrape mark. I looed as best as I could and can't seem to find anything. What options do I have? Is there some sort of a round file I can use?. Does it need professional help or should I just chalk one up for getting shafted? There has to be a way to fix this..any suggestions would be appreicated..Thanks

I bought a Romanian M44 at the gun show last weekend. I know these are referred to as Mosin Nagants, but who is the actual manufacturer? Is there any place online that I can download instructions for this gun? I found a site for MAK-90 instructions, but I lost the address.

It's a good price for a Romanian M-44.
Surplus ammo is available, Winchester has a line of FMJ for it, and Norma sells softpoints, I think S&B is also bringing in ammo for it.
They are rugged and reliable but a bit loud with a pronounced muzzel flash. Accurcy varies from fair to good, cartridge is in the .303 Brit/30-06 power range. It is a easy cartridge to reload for.
The Nagants are not easy to scope due to the split bridge design, but, their is a scout type mount that replaces the rear sight.
Some guys like a mag full of lead, I still prefer one round to the head.0 -
I'd say $59 is a very good price. I paid $89 at a gun show a couple of weeks ago for one that was in pretty nice condition cosmeticly. Most of the ones around now look like they've been run over by a truck. The ones in nice shape are usually in the neighborhood of $120-150. Saw one in sloppy condition at a gun show this weekend for $200. I almost fell down laughing.

Niklasal, what gun shop and where? Can't find them here for less than $100. I would almost send you the cash and have you ship one to me! 0 -
Niklasal,
I think I have one that's been sporterized with a real nice stock. Let me know if you want me to check on it. All my guns are locked up in large safes. I have an inventory list to go by, but it doesn't give all the details. I'm located in So. Maine.

if you can find one get a westinghouse nagant. they had a contract to make them, and quality is high. the difference between a westinghouse and your run of the mill MN is significant. (it will cost you though). 0 -
wolf has this ammo at $2.99/20rds.
steel case, shoots fine.

I saw them in the Arizona Daily Star newspaper here in Tucson/Phoenix area.
They are beiong sold at "Big 5 Sporting Goods," Locations in phoenix and tucson. ANyone else interested check out their number on www.yellowpages.com, and the number should be there. The people there are real nice, and they would probably be willing to work on shipping em out to you interested guys.
I may have to pass on this one, I gotta spend my money getting my transportation in working order again. Tennis shoes are okay, but working wheels is better
My gun is prettier than yours, and it's a Glock!0 -
Barto,
$2.99/box? We are talking about 7.62x54R, right? Average around here is $6/box. I came across some military for $4.99/box the other day. Haven't shot it yet, though.
