How does one Blacken Stainless Steel?
In addition to the teflon, laquer and paint on coatings and the trusty black Sharpie pen, does anyone know how to blacken stainless like, for example to touch up a Sig with a black stainless slide? Thanks, Ed

THE BEST WAY IS TO TAKE IT TO SOMEONE WHO DOES BLACK OXIDE PLATING. THE PROCESS IS LIKE CHROME PLATING. CANT ANODIZE STAINLESS. EXPECT ABOUT $50-$100 FOR BLACK OXIDE. ONE OTHER WAY IS TO POWDER COAT.
BLACK OXIDE WOULD BE BETTER IN MY JUDGEMENT.0 -
I may be mistaken but I don't think SS can take a black oxide treatment - just carbon steel. There are various kinds of Teflon coatings. Some are soft like a frying pan while others can be quite hard. Hope this helps.
