Colt AR Sloppy Pin ??
I just got my Colt 6601C back getting the compensator fixed for the third time,,My concern is, when I first got the gun there was, on the front hinge (is that what you call it?) a pin that was two pieces, it had the pin and a screw "cap" that fastened the pin in secure,,this last time that I got it back they had replaced it with a single piece pin. I thought no big deal until I started handling the rifle and noticed the front hinge has a lot of slop in it. With both pins in you can notice a large amount of slop betweed the upper and lower. I called Colt and they said I needed some sort of insert that goes at the back of the upper,,This rifle has less that 200 rounds fired through it, and all of those at the bench,,,My first question is, am I just being a whiney butt and live with it ?? Or could somebody tell me where I can purchase a pin like the rifle had when I purchased it?? Many thanks,,

No, you need two things. And aftermarket pin (many different kinds) and an Accu-Wedge. It doesn't sound like any big deal, shouldn't effect reliability or accuracy. Its actually common with most AR's to my experience to have a little play between the upper and lower, unless is was fitted, which you only find in custom work and really expensive les-baers.
I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.0 -
leeblackman,,Thank-You,,Colt is sending me an Accu-Wedge,,and I'll look for a pin,,just knowing that a little bit of "play" is normal sets me at ease a bit,,,

SodBuster; Call Colt back and get the two piece screw pin from them. It sound like they put in the later type take down hinge pin, instead of the semi-perment like it left the factory with. I believe the pins are different diamaters.
If you sent it with the screw pin and it came back different, they screwed up.
Just my thought, Good luck and Good Shooting
