Rugster: regarding .480 recoil
I read your reply on 'Verdict on 480's?'. I wanted to ask you a question, but didn't want to step all over the original post. You say that the recoil is much more managable that the other big calibers. Is it a lot more than a .44Mag?

I hope you don't mind but I will throw in my 2 cents since I can. The 480 is greater than the 44 mag in recoil. But not a lot more. It is surpisingly not that bad. If course don't forget you are shooting a 325 grain or larger bullet. You just can not get away from some recoil.0 -
Grave digger my .480 has a little more muzzle climb than the .44 mag. When I go to my range to shoot I always wear my shooters cloves. Even if I am just plinking with a 9mm. I wear them on duty so naturally I shoot with them on. I dont have any amount of uncomfort shooting 50 rounds or so other than I become less accurate as fatigue sets in. I really cant say there is much difference at all between recoil in the .480 and the .44 magnum. the biggest difference is a slightly bit more muzzle climb in the .480. It also helps to reload your own ammo you can reload down to where you cant even tell a difference between the two, but the chrony sure will. And its much cheaper to reload, always inspect your casings real well I have some reloads on their 3rd go around. hope this helps.
