I would keep the first one. My reasoning is, based entirely on the information you have given, that it is newer and perhaps stronger, whereas the second (if you are correct about the date of mfg.) has been around for quite awhile. Further, since the markings have been removed from the second, how do you know that it is of Colt mfg.? Since both have been modified, neither is a collector's item; and since the modifications are the same, there is no reason to prefer one other than the first being newer. As for value, either would be in the $450-$500 range.

These two guns were customized 500.00 on each gun. I have the name of one of the customizer. His signature on a piece of paper where 10 shots were fired at 50 yards. This one is the one made in 1917. The other one 1969 has a NRA target that has been shot 10 times with the persons name they were customized for, along with date of customizing.

    Gray,
sorry but I do not believe either are collectable as they were altered. Forget the money spent upon them. Enjoy as is. If in fine tune, and smith checked...shoot them w/ obvious precautions. My three cents worth..............Steve
