Help from fellow Glock Armorers
Today I was demostrating Glock field stripping to new officers. One managed to get the slide on top of the front set of guides on the receiver, but correctly into the rear set causing the slide to lock up, and the barrel and recoil spring rod to protrude forward. This is a fairly common occurance and I fixed it, but I can't recall what Glock calls this problem and of course I can't find my notes. There is a couple of variations of what can happen when the slide is incorrectly aligned. Any help with what this is called?

Glock does not have a name for this. It is simply "wrong".
Advise your recruits that they have screwed up and show them the right way to do it again.
And if necessary........

Thats a scary thought knowing that person is going to be on the street with a loaded firearm someday. 0 -
Why is that scary lazy? It was the first time this person ever held a Glock or field stripped a semi and of all the mistakes that could be made this was fairly harmless. I have seen seasoned officers do it before. From the look on her face I am sure she will do that properly from now on. One more point - she shot 96% this afternoon on our pre-qualification course. I will go out in the field with her any day. To call her scary in her future duties off of that mistake would be very poor judgement in my opinion. Sorry - I don't make a habit of firing back post', but I will take up for my fellow officers when I think they have been misjudged. 0 -
Critter, sorry no harm intended Im sure she will make an excellent officer. I was just pokin a little fun. Had a stepfather who was a LEO I must have forgot, having a sense of humor is against department policy. 0 -
Hey Lazy, I'am sure your were just pokin fun, but its hard to tell on a computer.
Critter,, Iam a Glock armorer for my Dept, and I dont think there is a name for that problem other than just a mistake. I have seen it done the other way around with the slide on the front tabs and over the top of the rear tabs.
I also teach firearms at the academy, and when I show the recruits how to assemble slide, I make them do it in slow motion until all 4 tabs are in the groove before they rack.

Lazy I appoligize for not picking up on the humor. I found in my notes the word "Outtie." I am pretty sure that's what the instructor called it when the recoil spring assembly protruded out. 0 -
Before you all get carried away, my son is a LEO and I'm retired. BUT don't you think that some LEO's NOT ALL are a little OVER SENSITIVE? I made a passing remark about patrol cars a couple weeks ago and got my head bit off.
