Colt Python Elite
Can anyone give me a value for a 4 year old Python Elite .357 with a 6" bbl.???
I have contacted local dealers, and have gotten varying prices. The gun is in "like new" condition.
Thanks in advance.

I have the opportunity to buy a Colt Python Elite in stainless steel. It has a 4" barrel and is in almost new condition with the box and manual. A faint cylinder line and it appears fired very little. Any ideas of it's value?
Thanks,
Ed

Depending on whether or not a dealer wants a specific gun, you are always going to get a wide range of prices. Keep in mind he is only going to be buying it to make a profit on its sale. Besides, the Python has always been considered by most to be a very "desireable" gun. So, depending on demand, (which goes up and down for no apparent reason), RETAIL pricing can be High or Low. Colt is now making this gun again in their Custom Shop with a Suggested Retail Price of $1,200.00, which seems to be making some of the older guns actually go down in price. I don't know why. Should be the other way around.
Here's what Colt did with these: PYTHON ELITE - .357 Mag. cal., 4 or 6 in. VR barrel, choice of Royal Blue (mfg. 1997 only) or stainless steel, Colt-Elliason adj. rear sight, rubber service style grips, 38 or 43 1/2 oz. New 1997, discontinued 1998, reintroduced 1999, again during 2002.
PYTHON ELITE STAINLESS- similar to Python Elite, except is stainless steel, Mfg. 1997-99, again in 2002.
According to the twenty-third edition of the Blue Book of Gun Values, both the Royal Blue and the Stainless Elites are valued the same.
100% 98% 95% 90% 80%
$995 $850 $725 $650 $550
These figures should be considered only as a guide. You might get more or less depending on the region, time of day, depth of the buyer's pockets, etc. Obviously Colt knows there's a market for these out there otherwise they wouldn't keep re-starting production of these fine revolvers. If they continue doing so, there has to be some sort of value changes made to the market because of supply and demand. Hope this helps!

The best information I can give you with the specs you gave. Looking through Gun Broker, the prices range from $900.00 to around $1200.00 Hope this can be of help to you.
Good Luck.

If you are trying to sell the gun, see if one of the dealers will put it on consignment for say $900.00 your end and then tell them that is how much you want out of the gun and make sure you have a signed aggreement with the dealer stating how much you get!!!!!!!!!
A lot of dealers, at least here in Missouri will put it in their case with the price you want and add 10% for their end. Some will tell you no matter how much you put down, THE DEALER will get his 10% out of your end. If you price it too high, they will usually tell you that too.
they usually want at least 10% to make sure they are covered,BUT you may also ask them, in the event of a burglary, is YOUR gun covered by their insurance.0
