Speaking of lawyers you should be aware that such a device should only be used as an alarm. Injuring someone with this would open you up to major civil & criminal penalties.
I can recall seeing ads for devices like this but I would think the civil liability would be too high for anyone to make one anymore.
A fair price is what a willing buyer & seller can agree on but to me the price he is asking is in the twilight zone.0 -
thanks gruntled. I have a cane gun and a pen gun, it appeared to me to be a other weapons kind of gun,
I just never have seen one before. Thanks again

I've seen these items offered in some of the knick-knack and speciality catalogs. They normally use a 12ga blank with no provision for using a regular shell. In other words, they are simply a shell holder with a spring loaded pin held back by a trip device that is released by a string or small lever attached to a door or gate. Legally, they fall into the same category as a set or trap gun.

There were several made that fired metallic cartridges and were designed to actually shoot anyone tripping the device. Of course, this was from a time where there were fewer lawyers.
Some of these can get pretty pricey, depending on the intricacy of the mechanism and the brand name.

There are tripwire guns for poachers and game, doorjamb and window sill alarm guns that date back to flintlock and percussion days.
Some are just alarm guns and others have barrels to shoot bullets.0 -
Some where in my Trash and Treasures I have a Percussion Window Sill warning device..Found it up in London, Ontario back in 76..Paid $5.00 U.S. for it..Been offered $50.00, but decided that it was to Novel and have kept it...If Memory serves it was made in Pennsylvania by a Blacksmith...{can't recall the makers name} ... and is valued at $100.00 or more to collectors of this type of Curio....best...
