WWII Japanese Bayonet Value?
I've got a WWII Japanese bayonet w/ metal sheath. The mum is intact and below the mum is either a "G" or a "6". The bayo rates about 80-85%, sheath is in worse shape -- like 60%. I have no desire to sell this (it has sentimental value), but I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea on its value, if any?

$35.00 to $50.00...depending upon which Jap bayonet you have...There were several different Models made, but not having any information to go on, such as Length of Blade, Style of Quillon, Style of Grips and method of attachment, Blood Groved or not or if the Scabbard is the Original to the Blade or not...I'm stuck to giving a somewhat vague estimate...Hope this helps....Best...

It is worth at least $50. I suspect that you do not, in fact, have a bayonet with the mum, that is a chrysanthemum; to my knowledge these were never applied to bayonets. What you see is the factory production mark. Follow this link http://www.radix.net/~bbrown/japanese_markings.html
and tell us if you have a hooked, straight, or other quillion, and exactly what markings you have. Also, do the grips wrap all the way around the handle, held on by rivets, or are they held on by screws with the metal spines of the handle visible on both sides? As for the G or 6, it could be a serial number; but if you have serial number 6, it is worth a great deal more than $50!

Wood grips do not wrap all around; fastened with screws
Looking more closely at the marking below the factory mark, I'm certain it is a 6.

The four circles marking indicates manufacture at the Kokura Arsenal. 0 -
I kinda doubt that the 6 is a serial number... you have a fairly common bayonet. This is an earlier model, made before WW2 if it has the narrow grips held on by screws. Depending on overall shape- you said 80%, but with the scabbard a bit beat up which is common- I will stick with my $50 quote, though you might get $75 with the right buyer.
