garand clips and ammo
I have seen that some Garand clip posts say they are marked "DAQ". Could someone tell me what "DAQ" stands for? When did the U.S. military stop using corrosive primers in the 30-06 ball ammo? Thanks for your help.

With the exception of some match ammo, any ammo made after WW2 should be non corrossive. I forget the actual date.
"...hit your enemy in the belly, and kick him when he is down, and boil his prisoners in oil- if you take any- and torture his women and children. Then people will keep clear of you..." -Admiral of the Fleet Lord Fisher, speaking at the Hague Peace Conf0 -
Actually the change over for US ammo took place in the early 1950's. The different manufacturing plants switched at different years. They started in 1952 and were finished by 1954. So you can't be sure that it is non-corrosive until after 1954. That is of course only US military production. Various European (and elsewhere) manufacturers were still using corrosive components until the 1960's, 1970's, 1980's and some even into the 1990's (Russia as an example). Even some of the late ammo produced clearly said non-corrosive, yet it still would eat your bore if left uncleaned after shooting. 0 -
