Good inexpensive AR 15 scope
Currently have a red dot on my bushmaster but find mashing varmints at 100+ yards kinda difficult as all I can see is a RED DOT. Are the cheap colt AR scope nock offs any good or just a waste of money?

Sorry but the truth is generally the knock offs are trash. Save up & buy something better. I would suggest a Pentax, Leupold or Bushnell. 0 -
alot of guys here have alot of more knowledge than myself, but i do know this-good and inexpensive is an oxymoron when it comes to optics, not worth the risk get something thats realiable. the general rule is this- buy whatever rifle you want, but buy the absolute best scope you can afford. 0 -
I put on of those cheap little Leapers $34.99 4x20 AR-15 scopes from Tapco and put on my AR. I've probably only fired a couple hundred rounds with it on there so far, but it works pretty good. It hasn't broken its zero yet, but on such a low reciol weapon as an AR, you can get away with it.
I just wish I had a dollar for every gun I wanted, then I'd be a rich man.0 -
If your rifle has the carry handle, the Chinese Red Star has a quick-detatch mechanism that mounts through the hole in the handle. It's a 4 power with Bullet Drop Compensator. I've had mine on my Colt for 9yrs. about 1000rd fired and still holds zero. Price around $50. 0 -
Never was much on cheaper scopes, but Tasco someone told me is the largest optics company in the world. They are making some scopes for our govt. and I do believe their optics are pretty good.
To give you an idea, Cabelas has a 3-12 30mm their brand scope that looks 99% + like the Euro 3x12 I bought for about half of the price of their scope. Guess they got to go some place for a good scope, and have to make money too.0 -
TascoI took my daughter up shooting two weeks ago to try out her 410 and a guy had a tasco scope on an AR that he wasbreaking in the barrel on. I let him shoot my HK and he let me try out the ar and it was a good sight for a 150-250 yds. I might shop for one for mine.

I dont know what your concidering as inexpensive, but I've gotten great performance from a BSA, 6-24X44 Platinum target, cost around $100 a few years ago ... I don't know how they would hold up on a gun with more recoil, but it holds groups under 2" at 300 yds with no problems ... and I don't need a spoting scope to see the hits either!
Edit
I would concider that Good & Inexpensive ... but thats just me!
