I have two, haven't gotten to use them much, one's not even mounted yet. I'm so scared of them breaking. I have over $1000 in them both.

When I bought them, I didn't know how much they were, and their reputation. A learning experience you know...

leeblackman,,I know this ain't going to help,,but,I too just purchased two new Springfield scopes,,If I remember right the 4X14X40 cost me around $350.00 and the 4X14X56 was $470.00. Just like ya I haven't spent enough trigger time to see how these things will hold up,,but for the money that we spent, having to worry about it doesn't make me too happy!!! I had to wait weeks to get them,,my thoughts were that "man these are good property,,there is such a demand there ain't any in stock",,,um wrongo,,,,,I do wish you luck,,,nobody ever had to say that to someone that just bought a Leupold,,

"No dear, this isn't a new gun,,I've had this one for quite a long time,,honest,,"

My 4-14X40 has been problem free ... the 4-14X56 nothing but problems ... its one of the only products made in Japan I concider JUNK.

    BTW:
    I gave $450 for the 4-14X40(for .223) and $550 for the 4-14X56 2nd generation(for .308) ... 4 years ago.

I have a first generation 4 to 14x56 mounted on a MIA Springfield in a first Generation Springfield mount that I have been Shooting for 3 years without any problems. I wonder if new and improved is really better.
